The Yeah Yeah Yeah's Is Is is the best money I've spent on a CD in a very long while - yes, they are entirely too self-conscious and artsy, but check it out for yourselves, check it outers:
Incidentally, that song is obviously not "Cars," they aren't singing whatever song it is, and I don't know what song it is or who sang it. But I am pretty sure that Gary Numan is an android. Oh yeah, he has Asperger's Syndrome - yeah, right.
I was morbidly curious to check out that magical unicorn Chinese Democracy, which as I've linked to, is easily found on youtube. It's actually not bad, say, if you liked G'n'R at all before. Not unlike Use Your Illusion.
But my big realization, which I'm bold to announce here, is that these two tracks are perfect James Bond themes. Even the song titles. That can't be coincidental.
That last one, for all purposes, is the Bee Gees.
BTW, the Las Vegas Orchestra recorded most of the Bond themes as classical rearrangements, which I must say, makes great workout music. Walking down the street listing to a Bond theme is, in a very dorky way, quite uplifting. Hey, it beats "Eye of the Tiger". Some of the recent ones are pretty good.
Picked just for you by my ipod (except I tried to find Hallowed Ground by the Violent Femmes, and didn't). Sorry, but three songs is all you get for a buck.
Re the previous Camero post, it's not exactly Panama, but here is the obligatory Dead Milkmen - Bitchin' Camaro (and apropos of nothing, Punk Rock Girl) Apparently it's obligatory to indulge my inner twelve-year old, but mea culpa.
The Yeah Yeah Yeah's Show Your Bones is pretty good. Not as good as Fever to Tell, but a couple of very good songs. Gold Lion isn't even the best one. Cheated Hearts is (so-so video). Yeah, they're artsy with a capital A - easily the most so since Franz Ferdinand or Talking Heads, or whomever the whipersnappers are listening to nowadays Yeasayer?. Yesh. Why not get David Lynch to direct all of your videos while you're at it. That said, those bands wrote some catchy tunes, and what could be more unforgivable than that?
On a more serious note, he probably just needs to sell off the especially rare and valuable records individually, where there will be lots of buyers, instead of trying to find that one magic unicorn Nick Hornsby who can afford the whole thing.
